What changes on 1 April 2026
TikTok Shop Singapore revises its Platform Commission Fee across every product category starting at midnight, Singapore time, on 1 April 2026. The change is published on the platform’s own Seller University page, not a third-party estimate. Categories with no listed rate in the new table default to 8.175% for standard sellers and 7.085% for sellers under the BXP programme.
The transaction fee rate itself does not move. It stays at 3.27%, GST inclusive, the level it reached on 1 October 2025 after rising from 2.18%. What changes is the base the fee gets calculated on.
The transaction fee base gets wider
Before 1 April 2026, TikTok Shop calculates the transaction fee as customer payment minus customer order refund, multiplied by the fee rate. From 1 April 2026, the formula adds platform discounts and platform discount refunds into that base before applying the rate.
That is a real cost shift for any seller who leans on TikTok-funded vouchers or coin cashback to drive conversion. A S$50 order with a S$10 platform-funded discount previously paid transaction fee on S$50. After the change, the fee applies to S$60, the customer payment plus the platform discount amount, even though the seller only receives S$50 minus the platform’s own commission and fee deductions from that transaction. TikTok Shop’s own page states the new formula plainly: transaction fee equals ((customer payment minus customer order refund) plus (platform discount minus platform discount refund)) multiplied by the fee rate.
Why this matters for margin math
A seller running heavy platform-discount campaigns to win TikTok’s algorithmic placement now pays transaction fee on money that never reached their bank account. This does not change gross commission. It changes the effective fee load on any order that carries a platform-funded discount, which is exactly the order type TikTok Shop’s own placement algorithm rewards most.
Sellers who model contribution margin per order should rerun that model against the post-April formula before the change lands, not after. The formula shift alone, holding the 3.27% rate constant, raises effective transaction fee cost proportionally to platform discount usage. A campaign-heavy seller sees a bigger jump than a seller who rarely runs TikTok-funded promotions.
What to check before 1 April
Pull the seller account’s actual category commission rate from the new table on the Seller University page, since the 8.175% and 7.085% figures apply only to unlisted categories. Cross-check whether recent orders carried platform discounts, and if so, by what average amount, to estimate the real transaction fee increase rather than guessing at it.
Confirm the category rate directly in TikTok Shop Seller Centre before the 1 April cutover.
